The Local First Coffee Hour events are a casual opportunity to connect with member businesses, hear about our upcoming programs, and learn how to build an economy that puts people first. We host them monthly with the support of Bloom Credit Union.

Host highlight: Hello Homes GR is a lot of things, such as Grand Rapids experts, animal lovers, coffee bingers, beer enthusiasts, and concert junkies. Professionally, they are an energetic team here to help you with all of your real estate needs whether you are looking to buy, sell, or lease. But that's what every real estate agent says, right? So, what makes them different? Exceptional customer service. Accessibility. Knowledge. Honesty. FUN!

Safety expectations: We’d like to continue meeting monthly in-person for our Coffee Hour events. To safely do so, event attendees are expected to adhere to current CDC recommendations:

  • When indoors, masks remain on unless actively eating or drinking
  • Maintaining 6 feet of social distance between guests and/or respecting the color-coded comfort zone stickers provided to all guests by PFE
  • Adhering to frequent hand-washing and sanitizing practices

Local First will also provide hand sanitizer.

We hope you'll join us for good coffee and good conversation!

Individual Mindfulness Instruction with Carol Hendershot

I know how difficult it can be to jump into something new.
When I first encountered mindfulness, it seemed scary and uncomfortable.

Even though I felt like I was out of other options, it took me a while to take that first step.
When I did, it was so reassuring to have someone I could lean on to guide me each step of the way.

I would love to be that person for you.

Mindfulness:

   •  Enhances the ability to manage stress
   •  Increases confidence and self-acceptance
   •  Improves sleep, focus, and attention

Self-Compassion:

   •  Improves the ability to handle difficult emotions with grace
   •  Boosts self-acceptance and acceptance of others
   •  Teaches us to motivate with encouragement instead of criticism
